Excerpt from the Mi Quang Song, Danang

Food songs in Vietnam are amusing and tend to go viral. But the latest ode to street food, The Mi Quang Song, is probably the most hysterical and unusual yet.

Filmed in Danang, the home of this mercurial noodle delicacy, and put together by 100 ky, Hao and Linh, this rap offering is a true elegy to Central Vietnam’s best known dish. Even better, it’s sung in both Vietnamese and English, with quips and oodles of quirks along the way.

As rapper 100 Ky jests as he rides his bike along Danang’s beach road:

No dawdling’ no doodling’

I get right to noodlin’

Some white guys don’t like that shit

I got to get through to them

He continues:

You what up co, ya already know

Let me get mot to of that mi quang, yo

And extra quail eggs to make me strong, yo

And no girls around so let that nuoc mam flow!

And then comes to the punch, the chorus, the unforgettable singalong.

Everyday for breakfast,

I wanna eat mi quang

Everyday for breakfast,

I wanna eat mi quang

Watch it for yourself. With 13,000 hits at the time of writing, this is one that’s going viral.

As 100 Ky raps:

Super magic flavor only 15 dong

How many foods got their own damn song?
