Jetstar Pacific Airlines has announced that it will begin Hanoi to Hong Kong services on Sep. 7 in order to accommodate the increasing demand for travel between the two cities.

Katy Perry To Join Vietnam Forbes Summit

Renowned American singer Katy Perry is set to address several hundreds of aspiring young Vietnamese and noted entrepreneurs in a Forbes summit to be held in Ho Chi Minh City next month.

One of Macau's top casino junket operators Suncity, VinaCapital a Vietnamese investment group and Hong Kong ‘s Chow Tai Fook Enterprises will team up to develop a US$4 billion casino resort in Vietnam, according to the companies involved in the project.

Procter & Gamble which has been operating in Vietnam since 1995, recently broke ground on a $100 million factory in Vietnam, which will make razors for its Gillette brand.

Forty years after the glorious liberation of Saigon by the indefatigable heroes of the proletariat, the city is celebrating by closing Le Duan (from Pham Ngoc Thach to Nam Ky Khoi Nghia) and Pasteur (from Han Thuyen to Alexandre de Rhodes), reports Tuoi Tre News. The closure took place on Mar. 31.

Kazakhstan Opens Embassy in Hanoi

The Kazakhstan flag - the central Asian country now has an embassy in Hanoi

Just in case you wanted to head to Almaty for the holidays or even the capital, Astana, Kazakhstan has opened its first embassy in Hanoi. Inaugurated on Mar. 30, the two countries set up diplomatic ties in 1992. The aim of the embassy is to bolster economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Kazakhstan. So, no, it's not just an easy way to get a visa.

Hanoi Tests 450 Surveillance Cameras

With the increasing traffic and violations, Hanoi's traffic department has installed 450 surveillance cameras under a pilot plan on major routes in Hanoi to track and handle traffic law breakers and their violations as soon as they are identified.

Timely news for those frequent flyers doing visa runs from the capital or wanting to catch performances by Andrea Bocelli in April or Katy Perry in May in Bangkok. Jetstar Pacific now have direct flights between Hanoi and Bangkok.
