The first runner-up at the 2011 Hong Kong International Comedy Competition, Jinx Yeo is archetypal Singapore… Serious yet hysterically funny, he’s sharply observant and with an imagination that bewilders even the most flexible of inflexible minds.
Described as “going for the jugular...” and “a breath of fresh air” by Singaporean rag, Today Online, Jinx has shared the stage with a veritable selection of international comedy heavyweights including Emo Philips, Ted Alexandro, Arj Barker, Paul Ogata, and Saturday Night Live veteran, Rob Schneider. He has also performed to sold-out crowds in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines and China. This comic is one to be reckoned with.
Flying over with him will be the Dutch-born Kristel Zweers. The founder of the venue Comedy Café Singapore, prior to relocating to Asia, Kristel was a household name in The Netherlands appearing on the Dutch version of Whose Line is it Anyway? and touring the Bene part of the Benelux countries with four, one-woman, 90-minute shows.
Moving to Singapore in 2013 saw Kristel deal with a new challenge, the need to perform in English. And she has done just that, strutting her laughter inducing around the region and as part of two all-female shows, Show Us Your Wits and The Comedy Heels Troupe. This gal doesn’t just make ‘em laugh, she makes ‘em fall right off their seats.
Supporting Jinx and Kristel down south on Thursday Sep. 24 at Game On will be a roster of Vietnam-based comedians including Canadian musican comedian Diana Bailey. And in Hanoi on Friday Sep. 25, House of Son Tinh will showcase local stand-ups from the ever-more-hilarious Hanoi Comedy Collective.
Singapore, serious? You’re having a laugh!
