Heartbeat Saigon is about to celebrate one whole year of music and mayhem in Ho Chi Minh City. Never to let a celebration go by without some seriously hot names in music, Heartbeat Saigon is celebrating their first birthday this Saturday, Dec 14 at Cargo Bar and presenting none other than Gregor Welz.

The German native turntablist is part of the musical "circus" 3000*, and has gained international attention far beyond his native pastures. Before his big night of getting Saigon's hips swaying, the groove guru gives us a little peak into what's in store for Saigonites this Saturday night.

What's your favourite part about playing in new cities?

The best thing about playing in other countries are the different foods, the different culture... and to see that the people party and dance to the same vibes as at home.
We hear that you've got a certain affinity for getting people on their feet and dancing. What kind of tunes do you think usually do the trick?
Deep and groovy ones...

Speaking of dancing, what are your moves like?
For me, my mantra is "free your mind and your ass will follow".
Saigon is, in a word, hot. Should we be expecting some serious sweat stains or have you got an outfit planned to beat the heat?
Well, most clubs thatat I play don't have air conditioning. So, my device is this: the hotter the better. Give me a towel, and I'll be just fine.
Five words to sum up your sound. Go.
Groovy, sexy, hypnotic, warm, powerful.
Heartbeat Saigon presents Gregor Welz' groovy, sexy, hypnotic, warm and powerful sounds to Cargo Bar, 7 Nguyen Tat Thanh, Q1 this Saturday, Dec 14. For more information on the gig and supporting acts, check out the event listing.
