Imagine inspecting molten asphalt that has been poured like lava over Pompeii. The March exhibition of lacquer paintings at Tu Do Gallery — Vietnam’s first private art gallery — should be looked at close-up. Forget what the shapes may represent. Canvas and Wine is a social event that combines good wine, good art and good friends into one environment, all led by an expert in art. A fun, creative class for all, Canvas and Wine invites all those that are looking for something a little different, no matter their painting level. With a brush in one hand and a glass of wine in the other, this event put on by Vinspace Gallery is an alternative take on wine tasting (and creating art, of course).
VinSpace’s popular series has two editions in January, which will teach you how to paint like Monet and Klee — or at least feed you enough to make you think you do. VinSpace’s District 1 garage will host the Monet and The Impressionists session on Jan. 16, and the District 2 art studio will host Paint like Paul Klee! on Jan. 23.

Aspiring and professional artists of Vietnam are invited to showcase their creative side in a call to artists for the Hanoi Open Exhibition, presented by Work Room Four. The event—held from Sept 26 to Oct 13—is open to all artists amateur and professional who are 18 years or older to submit their best work before Sept 15.
